Lower limb pain: Sciatica is a general term for a condition which has caused inflammation of or compression of a major spinal  nerve or nerves which have a pain pattern producing severe burning type pain down the buttock, thigh and calf. It can come from a problem with any or all the spinal nerves which comprise the sciatic L4 through s3 but most commonly comprises L5 or s1 or it can be pure sciatic pain  (out).

Pain: The sciatic nerve is a large nerve that is composed of many smaller nerves that come out of the lower back and run down each leg.  They merge and separate like an interstate highway system.  The nerve may be irritated by a spinal problem (herniated disc, spinal stenosis, arthritis), or a muscle spasm. In either case, sciatica is when the injured nerve causes pain going down the leg.

When surgery indicated, 90% success rate when leg pain is predominant issue & a non smoker.
