: As a former member of the candidate interview faculty of a medical school I can honestly say the issue would never come up. My suspicion is that a significant number of past and present medical students/doctors are afflicted with this germ. Life is complicated but you shouldn't let worrying about this issue stop you.

Brief & severe: An acute illness is one that is brief and severe.  In the case of tonsillitis it means that it bothers you alot but if properly treated with antibiotics will heal and go away.  A chronic illness is one that has long term duration.  Chronic tonsillitis does not resolve with antibiotics and usually requires removal of the tonsils.

glue ear and retracted ear drum very uncomfy...  can i go swimming and diving?  school health center doctor said steroid nose inhaler would help??

Prior ear infections: Glued/retracted eardrum? One side? Did you have history of multiple ear infections when you were a baby? Nasal steroid spray can help with allergies symptoms including runny nose or nasal congestion. I am uncertain whether it can help with retracted eardrum. Since you are uncomfortable, something should be done. OTC Claritin D or Zyrtec-D  may help. If persistent, consult doc.

Life Experience: The best thing you can do to prepare for a medical career it to have passion for things and to get life experience.  It is not just about school.  Explore the things that interest you; meet new people; learn to listen well; find people different than you and learn to hear their stories and their pain.  Have goals and accomplish them.

Driving: Not a good idea until able to weight bear just in case you would need to brake suddenly.  This is a safety issue.  What if you could not avoid an accident because you were unable to respond suddenly and brake.  What if you we hurt seriously or if you seriously hurt someone else?  Is that worth the risk?  Doubt the doctor thinks so.

If : There is no cartilage left in the joint your doctor is preparing you for it. There are some "cushioning injection that are new but discuss with your orthopedic surgeon.

Possibly: If your daughter is being treated with antibiotics and the infection is getting better, she may not be contagious.  It's best to discuss this with the treating physician who diagnosed and advised treatment for this.
