If it works, yes: For many the alternative is a lifetime of taking acid reducers so if this stops acid and/or food from backing up from the stomach to the esophagus by recreating a pressure gradient, it sounds useful.

See below: This is a narrowing ring of the lower part of the esophagus that can cause problems with swallowing.  Assymtomatic rings usually require no treatment.  Symptomatic rings may require esophageal dilatation with ballon dilators.

Muscle spasm: Hiatal hernia can cause spasm secondary to reflux and later enough scar tissue from the burning of the acid or enough spasm in the muscle of the esophagus can cause the ring which is a structure that might need to be dilated. The motility problem either secondary to the reflux or could be related to stress or some other etiology . It can cause problem swallowing . No surgery for that . Good luck

Yes: Reflux might be the source of the ring. In that case an anti reflux operation would help but i advise a motility study of the esophagus prior to considering surgery. If motility is impaired your condition will worsen with surgery.

No: A nissen will make your symptoms worse. Any esophageal pathology will not be helped by fundoplication.

Probably: If you are failing the dilations and having constant trouble, you probably are a candidate for a nissen procedure. Talk to your physician.

To make sure: There is not a concerning problem. Remember, there are many times something that appears abnormal may not be anything concerning when looking under a microscope.

Do U have Achalasia: Achalasia is defined by absent peristalsis in the esophagus &amp; incomplete relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter (les).  It may be a "primary" esophageal motility disorder, or "secondary" to cancers invading the les (pseudoachalasia), chagas disease from reduviid bug bites, amyloidosis, sarcoidosis, eosinophilic infiltration. Similar motor abnormalities can be seen with diabetes &amp; ciip.
