Topical prescription medication includes Metrogel or finacea.  One of the best oral medications is oracea.

See plastic surgeon: First one may try injecting a potent steroid into the scar to see if it would reduce it.  Failing that you may need some plastic surgery.  I don't know if a laser would help erase it or not.

Forever Present: A scar forms when there is  healing of an injury to the tissues.  Remember that with almost all wounds, healing continues for months and months as we change the stress on the tissues.  A scar forms as a result and may have many different appearances and colors.  Any dark coloration may fade over time but the tissues never are the same and so some scarring will always be there.

Acne scar treatment: For shallow acne scarring, dermabrasion and co2 lasers can help smooth the skin. For deeper scarring, excision of the scars followed by closure with stitches is usually required.
If redness is secondary to an acne outbreak, treating the outbreak should resolve it. For chronic redness, first see a dermatologist as you may have a treatable rash. Otherwise, hydroquinone cream can lighten the skin.

Could be: Most probable lesion to be excised is a ganglion.  This is a tendon cyst where the cyst has to be opened and capsule  removed..  Here inflammation of  the operative filed can result in joint pain.  The scar may represent a keloid that has formed and can be treated by newer topical medications or kenalog (triamcinolone) into the scar. If inflamed ,warm soaks and antibiotics.can be employed.

Topical benzoyl peroxide as tolerated keeps most new lesions at bay; you physician can add a supplemental Rx if required.

Maybe: There is a new drug for rosacea, Mirvaso, which helps the redness.  It is not approved for or tested in acne, although is might help the redness.

Try it: It may relieve the redness like many other things can, and will probably only hide the scars during the time it's in place -- it is shiny and make them harder to see. I'm really sorry you weren't properly treated for acne in the first place -- any physician has the means to clear it or refer severe cases to those who can. A dermatologist can use filler or other rx to make the scars less visible.
