You can see stingers: If you see a very dark or black hard object at the center of a sting, the stinger is likely embedded. A fine tipped tweezer can usually remove it. If you cannot see or feel it, though, there's likely no stinger present. Unremoved organic foreign bodies like insect parts carry a risk of infection; an urgent care could evaluate you and perform any removal procedure you may need.

After contamination: Purell is a decent disinfectant and should be used after any possible contamination or prior to the risk of passing something on to a new person.  If used often, it is drying and you might need to supplement with skin cream.

Stinger: Remove stinger by scraping along edge of skin with a credit card.  Clean area with soap ; warm water.  Apply ice in 10 minute increments; alternating 10 on ; 10 off.  Try a bag of cold peas.  You can take meds like tylenol, (acetaminophen) Aspirin or Motrin for pain or Benadryl for swelling.  Make a paste of 2 parts baking soda ; 1 part water ; apply.  By the way, usually bees leave a stinger.

Pleural thickening: this is I assume an x-ray or ct scan finding?  can be caused by many things.  Be sure you follow up with your healthcare provider and see what they suggest to do next.  Many have pleural thickening and no other issues.  Good luck.

Doesn't last at all: The protection from hand sanitizers doesn't last at all. It kills viruses and bacteria on the hands when applies. As soon as your hands have dried, if you contact an infected person or a contaminated surface, there is no prevention. In other words, hand sanitizers protect against exposure prior to their use, but not afterward.

Try to scrape it out: With a credit card or other flat surface. Venom sac / stinger contains venom which enters your skin. Clean area w soap ; warm water. Apply ice in 10 min. Increments (10 on/10 off). Can try tylenol, (acetaminophen) Aspirin or Motrin for pain or Benadryl for swelling. Make paste of 2 parts baking soda ; 1 part water ; apply. Need tetanus shot every 10 years. Throat, airway, mouth swelling or difficulty breathing?

Quickly: A bee's stinger is barbed and frequently remains stuck in your skin. The stinger apparatus has venom in it and will continue to pump it in after the bee has separated from it. So you want to get it out quickly, and without squeezing the rest of the venom into you. Take the edge of a credit card and scrape it parallel to the skin which will dislodge the stinger but not compress the remaining venom.
