You can see stingers: If you see a very dark or black hard object at the center of a sting, the stinger is likely embedded. A fine tipped tweezer can usually remove it. If you cannot see or feel it, though, there's likely no stinger present. Unremoved organic foreign bodies like insect parts carry a risk of infection; an urgent care could evaluate you and perform any removal procedure you may need.
