Duac Side Effects: Stop using this medicine and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
severe redness, burning, stinging, or peeling of treated skin areas; or
diarrhea that is watery or bloody
less serious side effects may include:
mild burning or stinging
itching or tingly feeling
dryness or peeling of treated skin; or
redness or other irritation
most rashes last 10-14 days with rx.

Rash: Soak the baby in the tub with wam water, dry well and apply desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream) or another perfume free emollient. Leave the baby's bottom open to the air for as long as possible without a diaper. Repeat daily.

Rash: Neither sand nor salt water by themselves tend to cause rashes. Remember we all have salt water in our bloodstream. And sand is an inert byproduct of silicon, which is nonreactive. If there is a rash, it is probably from some other factor. With sand, if it is pushed across the skin, could cause an abrasion just like sandpaper. Salt water might be mixed with something that he is allergic to.

: There is a lot of "stuff" in sand, including some chemicals, pollution, bacteria and more.  Plus sand is abrasive and can cause a rash all by itself in some people with sensitive skin. Wash area  with warm soap and water, and pat dry.  If symptoms persist or worsen, then go to see your doctor.

Scarlet fever: Sounds like scarlet fever.  It is a reaction to stre pinfection.  See your doctor since the strep needs to be treated.

Many possibilities: If the child has fever & this started around the genitals & armpits it could be the rash of strep. If home bound in a poorly humidified space it could be dry skin.If you are using a new bath soap or shampoo, this could be a minor reaction. You can probably just monitor the issue unless there is a fever, then i would have her seen soon.

Yes it could: May cause local rash or irritation. Just rinse off and keep area clean dry.  Nothing to severe should come of it

Have you: Have you seen a dermatologist to get it evaluated? This way you can find out. You may need a skin biopsy.

: Using topical steroids more than 7 days on face, neck, palms, soles, or genitals, or 10 days on the rest of the body is not recommended generally, it can cause steroid induced acne, thinning of hte skin  and other problems.  Stop the desonide and see PCP or dermatologist. Also NO FRAGRANCES, SMOKE (incl. candles) or AEROSOLS on body or in home as these are skin irritants.
