Using topical steroids more than 7 days on face, neck, palms, soles, or genitals, or 10 days on the rest of the body is not recommended generally, it can cause steroid induced acne, thinning of hte skin and other problems. Stop the desonide and see PCP or dermatologist. Also NO FRAGRANCES, SMOKE (incl. candles) or AEROSOLS on body or in home as these are skin irritants.

I agree with Dr.R's advice. I think the most important step you made was to discontinue the application of lip balm. I have seen several patients who developed lip irritation & even irritation of the skin adjacent to the lips from using lip balm. However consulting a dermatologist is good advice.
