Midnight?: Hi. Was it a midnight salivary cortisol? Let me assume it was (I hate to assume, but no details!), since there's no other legitimate use for a salivary cortisol test). It midnight salivary cortisol is high, it means your body has lost diurnal regulation of cortisol secretion, a hallmark of Cushing's Syndrome. It's part of a comprehensive Cushing's work up. Why?: why are you getting tested? It appears that the testing is unrelated to the beer consumption. Has there been use of other drugs? If you are getting tested for occupational reasons and need to avoid alcohol and drugs to keep that job, then avoid them.

Various conditions may cause the cortisol levels in the saliva to increase. It would be best to consult with your md to properly evaluate the cause of these findings.
