Absolutely: Saline irrigation of the nose is safe and effective. I encourage all my nasal allergy patients to rinse their nose. There are also non=allergic forms of nasal disease as well as chronic sinusitis, where nasal irrigation is crucial.

used expired simply saline nasal spray. it expired 7 months ago. obviously didnt realize. not used often.  no one used except me and i have not been sick. only need allergies. any harm?

: wouldn't think so: In general the USE BY dates are estimates required by the consumer product safety people or the FDA. The apply most often to drugs that can become weaker over time. With saline spray there is some risk of a change in the salinity/strength, but for such needs it is of little importance.

Sinus infection: The problem may be chronic sinusitis.  Saline irrigation with a neil med sinurinse bottle might do a better job of clearing any debris.  A good exam by an ent, including a nasal endoscopy would best examine for the origin of bad breath.  Sometimes your breath isn't as bad as you imagine, also.

Inflammation: Use an antihistamine in conjunction with the nasal saline. Avoid allergic triggers such as dust, mold and pollen. A virtual consultation is available online with healthtap to develop an allergy plan which may be useful for your and your PCP.

Yes: I often recommend it for those with significant nasal congestion due to allergies, irritants, colds, etc. It is much more helpful than most meds used for colds or congestion.

Maybe: I can't say I have ever seen it happen. Most parents do not do it as often as the kid needs or as vigorously as they need. Since a small kid needs the mucous debris removed to effectively use their nose, it is one of the few treatments that can make a real difference.Cold meds often thicken mucous producing a negative effect.

In a different form: Yes, nasal saline is available for such a young child, but typically is sold as "saline drops" or something similar. Little Noses sells on such type, and there are others. For a little two month old, I'd look for nasal saline drops, rather than spray.

Same principle: saline nasal spray is salty but more diluted,in  salt water  concentration is different and you can customize it by increasing salt, which isn't recommended, would be much irritating

Accepted Answer

No: It not only cause you to become very dizzy but may introduce an infection into your middle ear.   Have you talked to an ENT to find out if the perforation can be repaired?
