trauma: You cannot rupture a normal tear duct by ordinary activity.  It will open only with trauma which cuts into the lid on the inside portion near the nose.

Not to worry: If a stye breaks open, the contents are rapidly flushed out by the eye.  Infection beyond the stye would be extremely rare.  Just continue to apply heat and keep the eye flushed out and cleansed.

Tear Duct Cysts: A blocked tear duct from a sty or chalazion can be helped by applying warm compress 4 times a day. If the tear duct is blocked by something else, you will have to make an appointment with an ophthalmologist to, get it evaluated. Any such blockage can result in headaches.

Depends on situation: This is common in newborns & given some time and growth the blockage can clear on its own as the duct becomes larger.If still blocked at 6m & unresponsive to simple measures, an ophthalmologist may need to probe the duct & clear the blockage. One simple measure involves rolling the tip of the finger over the inner corner of the eye over the tear sac which may push any blockage down the duct.
