Which one?: A bursa is a fluid filled sac that is for reducing pressure and wear on a joint. Did not say which one you struck. If it was already fluid filled then it may have been irritated.. There is nothing to do now except wait and see the final result of what has happened. If it remains swollen then put ice on it for now and wait. See the ortho if followup if it remains swollen

Knee bursa: I suspect continuing inflammation of that bursa but ankle edema is unusual unless there is continual leakage of fluid from the bursa running down the leg. I would ask the orthopedic specialist if this is  the reason for the ankle edema and ?physical activity limitations. Could there be another process like a Baker's cyst rupture,ankle damage or phlebitis? Should you have an ultrasound of the calf?

They can be removed surgically or sometimes they can be injected with a corticosteroid. The opening of the sack could be cauterized but the likely his occurrence is high

Variable : Most cases of elbow bursitis can be resolved with eliminating activities or positions that aggravate the bursa and reducing the inflammation (rest, ice, compression, elevation). Other more severe cases may require physical therapy, aspiration or steroid injection. Rarely is surgery required.
