Tooth: From what you have described it sounds like you may have a small abcess on the tooth which at this time may not be causing any problems.  You need to see your dental provider and ask about evaluation for a possible root canal.  The tooth may still be vital, but in need for a root canal which would explain why the tooth is not cold sensitive.  Either way you need evaluation by your primay dentist

Never leave open: I never recommend leaving a root canal open especially if there is no infection.  Left open you could expect tooth and jaw infection to soon follow.

Yes: Bone will regrow in the defect. Depending on the size of the defect, it can take a few months and even up to a year.

No: Listerine can kill bacteria on the surfaces it touches.  A dental root is a very deep thing. The listerine may help prevent cavities but it will not get into the tissues at high enoooughlevels to treat root canal infection.  You will need to have a dentist take care of this issue, .

Comorbidity: Your headache is existing simultaneously but independently with the root canal infection or it can indicate a related condition. To rule out the connection, fix the tooth infection first. If headache persist see headache specialist.

Vital tooth: It probably means the tooth was still vital, hence no infection. Pain for three months usually means root canal therapy is needed.

Tooth infection: Antibiotics will not cure a tooth infection, they will only mitigate the symptoms.
The tooth needs to be treated. Make an appointment to see a dentist.

i had two pulpectomies yesterday on #28 and 29. #28 showed a sm. root tip infection. i now have a lump under my jaw below the teeth. is this normal?

Could be: Could be normal. Possible post op infection. see the doc who did the procedure. If you're not on antibiotics, the doc may want to prescribe.a

2nd opinion: I do not expect an infection above the neck to cause node enlargement at the armpit and hip.  Suggest you seek a 2nd opinion from an internist.

Around 6 months: It normally takes about 6 months for the bone to grow back.  You will need to see your dentist to confirm.
