is anyone using euflexxa or other injections on hips with little cartilage left due to severe oa? i can't have a total hip and need to find some help!

Accepted Answer

YES: It can be done, however insurance will not cover the cost of the medication for the Euflexxa.  I have used it in people with hip issues and had fairly good results.  Other options if you don't know already are stem cell therapies that can help re-grow or prevent need for surgery.  Check out Regenexx.Com for more info.

Yes ; No: The answer to your question is more complex than you may think.  It depends on the extent of damage and that has to be evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon that specializes in knees.

Accepted Answer

Tfcc tears can be : Treated with a splint and a cortisone injection and this may help for months and years. Technically the only thing you can do to fix a tfcc tear is to have arthroscopic wrist surgery but this isn't always necessary.

im have a really large keyloid in the cartilage at the top of my ear and it is very unsightly. i have had steroid injections but they are not helping?

See Dermatologist: Can continue the steroids but if not working can try laser or cryotherapy or ligature and also retinoids.Last is surgery but will likely resultin a new Keloid.If have any earrings need to be removed and no new piercing.

i have grade 3 cartilage damage in my knee and i have been having pain, i just got prescribed meloxicam and a cortisone injection on friday, how long till i get relief from the injection and is it better to take my meloxicam at night or in the am?

Relief: Starts sometimes at the time of the injection or in hours after and meloxicam is generally taken after a meal same time of the day, either morning or evening. Your best reference for what to expect from the injection remains your treating doc.

will lidocaine patches destroy the joint cartilage when applied to the knee/tibial plateau? or does that only occur with articular injections?

No, the lido only--: -penetrates superficially. also small doses of lido, or Marcaine injected into the knee along with a steroid does not effect the joints. the main complications with the caines, is from pain pumps that allows continuous flow into a joint. mainly has been seen in shoulder surgery where the tip of the infusion catheter is within the joint capsule.

i twisted my knee and heard a big loud pop when bowling. just went to dr. to get the mri results. complex meniscus tear w much cartlidge gone. he gave me a cortisone  injection, but also mentioned i would likey end up needing knee replacement. i'm so conf

One step at a time: Meniscus tears often get better with time.  They do not by themselves lead to knee replacement.

Perhaps?: But I am not aware of any indication or benefit.  With the worlds shark population down 90%, it wouldn't be high on my list of complementary or alternative therapies and only if i were sure it would be saving my life of markedly improving my daily life  or comfort.  Reconsider!
