how common is roof of mouth cancer in 22 y/o non smoker, drinker? oral surgeon said its an oral fibroma but its been there for a year. has not changed in size. very small size of nerd. just worried

Tobacco associated: You need to be tobacco free to be low risk. Chewing tobacco, pipes (Freud died from it), cigars are all risks. AND assuming tobacco free. Low risk. BUT scar tissue is a risk for the development of scar cancers and 2 of the small number of patients I've had die from cancers were with cancers in scar (lung, skin). 
BUT without any characteristics of cancer.....

Cyst: It could be a mucocele but since you have had it for 3 months, i would recommend that you see your primary care or ENT specialist.

No. : If this appeared after the burn it’s because of it, it should resolve in a couple of weeks, if it doesn’t please get checked up by your dentist.

Red Ulcer: Over the internet it is impossible to tell if that lesion is oral cancer. But, since it has lasted for over two weeks without resolution, it is prudent to have it examined by an oral surgeon. Please make an appointment.

Not Likely: While possible, oral cancer require many years of misuse to develop. Also, we are not certain of the effect of e-cigs but know there is a 100% correlation between use of SNUS with oral cancer developing in the location where the SNUS is placed in the mouth.  Most likely you have candidiasis or thrush but in any event, you need to see your dentist to have it evaluated &amp; treated.

Permanent: Mouth cancers typically start as a lump, bump or patch in the mouth that does not go away after a few weeks. However, not all lumps, bumps and patches are cancer. If concerned, see your dentist or PCP for examination.

What symptoms ?: You have to understand that the only way to know for sure is to be seen by an oral surgeon or an ent. If the lesion is suspect and small, then the entire lesion might be removed. If it is large, then a biopsy will be done. It is normal to be scared and concerned... Your time is better spent getting an appointment to have it examined and diagnosed.

Sometimes never: If you believe you way have oral cancer see a dentist as soon as possible.  Sometimes there are no symptoms.  By the time you develope symptoms it is very late.

Hard to say...: Diagnosis for lesions need every bit of information... how long has it been there? How big? is it getting bigger? Condition of your adjacent teeth? Location on the roof of your mouth? Social habits including drinking and/or smoking? See a local oral surgeon for an exam.
