i make my own mozzarella and cheddar cheese and as a result i get a goodly amount of whey as a by-product. how might i use this whey? can i use it in smoothies or as a substitute for water when making soup or stew? pros and cons? use quantities?

for some reason whenever i swallow my food, it hurts my chest. like today i had soup and a grilled cheese and each time i swallowed it would hurt my chest like its hard to digest or something. i tried pepsid and otc. ? it doesn't hurt swallow.

Esophagitis: Suspect you have esophagitis (food tube inflammation/irritation). Sit up during eating, small bites, chew well, swallow water between bites.
Oral antacids may help, or Gaviscon, which floats on top,of stomach acid.  I suspect GERD (reflux of stomach acid) in the cause. Discuss this with your doc to determine if further work up is needed. Good luck

Squash skin: I am not aware of any particular benefit of eating it. Even though it may be, how much of it would you be able to eat? It's always the ratio of benefit vs. Taste and gets skewed toward the latter.

Squash: i would refrain from eating butternut squash because it may cause excessive gas or loose stools

Yes, it's possible: Theoretically, any food can trigger an allergic reaction.  The most common foods are milk, egg, wheat, soy, peanut, fish/seafood and nuts.  Squash allergy is possible but not typically life threatening.  An allergist can perform testing to determine if this was a true allergic reaction.  Itching is a very consistent symptom of an allergy and should not be ignored.

Bowel transit time: Normally takes  ~ 2.5 -5 hours in the stomach and 2.5-5 in the intestines, then 12 + in the colon.  But if you have only a diet of vegetables  and drink water/coffee which is a cathartic,   it is possible  to get more rapid transit time, as by 4-5 hours there is food in colon.  Alternatively could be from yesterday.
