Yes, it's possible: Theoretically, any food can trigger an allergic reaction. The most common foods are milk, egg, wheat, soy, peanut, fish/seafood and nuts. Squash allergy is possible but not typically life threatening. An allergist can perform testing to determine if this was a true allergic reaction. Itching is a very consistent symptom of an allergy and should not be ignored.
