: Doctor is correct (if unsympathetic).  Test your describing definitely (-) only after 6 wks post-exposure (although if negative at 4, overwhelming like it will stay negative). Get 6 wk test for full reassurance

Two tests 6m apart: PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) is medicine that you can take if you are HIV-negative and you believe you have just been exposed to HIV. If you take PEP as directed, it can stop the HIV virus from infecting your body. Do not delay. You need to take PEP as soon as possible after the exposure. A second test 6 months from the first one will confirm that you are negative.

Given that the first test is already negative, the likelihood that you have HIV is already pretty low. If the second test is also negative, it is extremely unlikely that you have HIV from that potential exposure.
