See below: It's highly individual, but generally speaking about positive rituals (e.g. Meals together, holiday gatherings, reading together, talking, etc.), will bring you sense of stability and help you refuel yourself before stressful events. Even with chaos, having these ritual in place, might have a calming effect on you -- you know you can always go home and do these things that keep you grounded.

Usually referring to: OCD (vs. religious practices), rituals are compulsions to perform some act to an unnatural degree, such as tapping a refridge door many times after closing it to "make sure" it stays closed.   Avoiding cracks in sidewalks, or arranging things on a desk so that everything has to be parallel and perpendicular can be OCD.   Usually this comes with anxiety, which the rituals aim to reduce---but fail.

Rest/sleep routine: Best way tp create sleeping routine is to avoid watchong tv or being on line  at night.

No: Not that I have ever heard of. I will say that many microwavable foods may not necessarily be very nutritious. It is best to try and eat whole fruits and vegetables and grains, including some fruits and vegetables that are raw-every day.

Fault?: I am not sure that anyone is to blame per se, unless you are talking about heredity and your mother has OCD herself. Ocd is a type of anxiety disordsr and the compulsions are tgere to help control that anxiety. It seems to be biologically based and psycholofically reinforced.

It is a folk healing tradition where, supposedly, a raw egg may be rubbed gently over the body to draw any negativity out of the person.  Any particularly afflicted or painful area is given particular attention.  I have seen eggs used in some hawaiian spiritual healing cermonies also.

Common ocd: Common rituals include number counting, such as having to take 10 sreps before going to bed, having to have an even number with whatever you do-pumping gas, depositbg money, etc. Common comoulsions include handwashing, re-chexking if locks are locked, re-checking whether stove is off.
