Once they get on your skin, they live on the surface old skin and tend to spread in a ring. The spores can be shed and acquired or pass by direct contact. Treatment cuts down on spore production and  ability to spread.

Requires rx meds: If it is true scalp ringworm it infects the hair root, well below where any topical cream or shampoo will reach. To cure it would require prescription oral meds that reach the hair root through the blood. Creams &amp; shampoos can assist the process, but not cure true scalp ringworm.

: would avoid coming in contact with the lesion. Ring worm is a skin fungus infection that responds very well to topical treatment. Since it may be  spread to another person via direct contact, try to avoid the specific area where it is located, and have him be treated by his dermatologist for this infection

RINGWORM SPOTS: These may not be ringworm. It may be a harmless condition called tinea versicolor. Without seeing i couldn't be sure. Do see a dermatologist.

Fungal spores: Ringworm is so named for the ring like changes produced when the fungal spore eats the top layer of skin cells & moves outward from the primary site in a ring, like ripples in a pond.The fungi are opportunity seekers that exist in dirt, on animals or people. Their spores (seeds) come in contact with the skin & settle into the top layer & grow. They are  common in kids.
