Fungal spores: Ringworm is so named for the ring like changes produced when the fungal spore eats the top layer of skin cells & moves outward from the primary site in a ring, like ripples in a pond. The fungi are opportunity seekers that exist in dirt, on animals or people. Their spores (seeds) come in contact with the skin & settle into the top layer & grow. They are common in kids.
