Possibly: "Ring worm" is a common lay term for a fungal infection of the skin. Spores from the fungus are acquired by contact with a source; including animals, humans,or the environment. Once they get on your skin, they live on the surface old skin and tend to spread in a ring. The spores can be shed and acquired or pass by direct contact. Treatment cuts down on spore production and ability to spread.
