Could be from a: Tight fitting shoe...If so , it could take a few days to go away, after u stop wearing those shoes.

Nerve problem: Sometimes numbness in a toe could be due to an injury or irritation  of a nerve. You need to see your doctor for further evaluation.

Pressure: I think your numbness is from shoe pressure. If the numbness is on the outside of your toe (medial side) then your shoe is pressing on the nerve that travels over the medial side of the base of the large toe (hallux).  That is the same area that a bunion would develop. Try a different pair of shoes or sometimes a softer pair of socks can help relieve the pressure.  Try a wider pair of shoes.

Numb toe: Indicates some type of nerve injury. It can be anything from back injury to pressure on local nerve from shoes. This would be more likely if you have deformity sych as a bunion or you have swelling in your feet.

Needs examination: Several things could cause this to mention a few: bunion, sesamoiditis, fracture, shoewear/activity.  Need to see a podiatrist for eval and xrays to prevent long term damage.

i had my son 6 months ago and received an epidural with it. i've had the tip of my right big toe numb ever since and unsure why. ?

It is possible: The epidural created the problem, or you have an issue with your back compressing on a nerve. If the epidural caused the problem sometimes oral steroids are given, however, if you are breast feeding your pediatrician should weigh in on the matter. An emg/ncv is one test that can help confirm the location of a nerve injury though not always positive. Sometimes MRI's are used.

i am experiencing  foot numbness and burning sensation. my plantar nerve was removed. should half of my big toe be numb?

Unclear: Not sure why you had either/both of your plantar nerves removed - nor any past history of relevant diseases associated with a neuropathy. The innervation of the top of the foot and the bottom are different, and the lack of plantar nerve(s) make it more complex. Please consult your doctor who can sort through all of these issues to localize the issue and additional tests to define it better.

LLD: A limb length discrepancy causes each foot to function different from the other; both abnormally. At 29, the long-standing LLD has finally become apparent. I personally like a scanogram to determine the exact difference; it gets right down to millimeters. After that, some type of orthotic device to accommodate the LLD. Maybe some back x-rays, to check for any compensation higher up.

Improper : Fit shoes, entrapment of deep peroneal nerve, low back pain, systemic disease , vitamin deficiency are other possible reasons to feel this.

A numb toe: Numb toes can be caused by nerve damage in the nerve out close to the toe, peripheral nerve, or damage higher up near the spinal cord Usually if the damage is from the spinal nerves, eg, nerve impingement from your DDD, you would more likely have numbness all the way down your leg into the toe. Your would need to see a neurologist and get some testing done to sort this out.
