i had right lung pneumonia two years ago. when i rest on my right side, i get the same lung pain. it never really goes away. what could this be?

Pleural Scarring?: There's probably scar tissue in ur lungs from (what sounds like a serious case of) pneumonia (PNA). If u have none of the other symptoms / signs of PNA then residual inflammation or irritation of the lining of the lung (pleura) from that infection. W/o other worrying signs, I think the best u can do is sleep on ur back or left side for relief. Talk to a thoracic surgeon or pulmonologist for advice

i have shingles on right side of back wraps around to middle of my stomach is it normal to have lung pain with this?

Yes: It is unlikely pain from your lungs but just viceral type pain from the shingles.  If you are having shortness of breath then would go see your doctor.

i have left side in lung pain.and it's on lower side of lung..is this muscular pain?i am doing a gym regularly so any effect of it..

Can be: You can strain muscles around chest asymmetrically and these muscles are used to move rib cage for breathing. If reduce exercise for few days and pain lessens than that is answer. If continues should see physician for further workup.

You need to be seen: and a chest X-ray or CT may be required for a diagnosis. Many possible causes of pleurisy and some of them can be serious, but most are treatable. Don't delay &amp; go see the doc. If persists, be emphatic about discovering the cause of this recurrent problem. A Pulmonary Specialist is the expert.

had flu then persistent sinusitis. also have scars in lungs (asthma). can any of these cause lung pain? it's intermittent, both sides of upper chest.

Asthma: Can cause chest pain but rarely causes scars in the lungs on x rays, make sure you havethe correct diagnonsis, an allergist can help you.

Depends: Pain in the chest from pneumonia is usually not a life threatening symptom. Shortness of breath, on the other hand, is. Pain may represent the inflammation of the lining of the chest wall, called pleurisy. It usually gets better as your pneumonia improves. Based on your description it's hard to tell whether you can wait until tomorrow or not, though.

Chest pain: Several leading possibilities without knowing more about you. Pleural inflammation, what is called pleurisy is a possibility. Pulmonary embolism would be another and more serious possible cause. You need to see doc to get checked out.
