Ribs: Are you asking from a health or a moral standpoint? How much skin you feel comfortable showing is up to you. There are a number of people whose rib outline is discernable who have normal weight. While i would not  make it a goal to look bony, if  you have healthy nutrition, healthy weight and your ribs protrude - let it be.

Dislocated??: The studies you had may not show if a rib was dislocated or cartilage damaged.  You may need a CT and or MRI to find the underlying cause. Talk to your doctor to explain the study

: An abnormality from a tumor might show up on an X-ray, but an MRI would really be the way to see it. Please speak to your doctor about this if you have a concern and they can discuss it further and review any symptoms you may have.

: The CRP is a sensitive marker in the blood for any inflammation or infection. So, the doctor is watching for that. Continue to follow-u p with the doctor.

: C reactive protein (CRP) is a reactive protein produced when there is systemic inflammation. It was 70 when there was significant inflammation; and it was measured serially to determine what was going on in the body and obviously the systemic inflammation went down because the body also heals itself by creating countermeasures to inflammation or other insults in the body.

would an xray specifically for detection of broken ribs also show up early lung diseases?

Accepted Answer

Not always.: Xray's can pick up broken ribs, but they are not used to reliably pick up other lung diseases like cancer, if the suspicion for cancer is low to begin with.  We use it to look for pneumonia, if we suspect pneumonia... Or fluid in the lungs if we suspect fluid in the lungs.  If we seriously suspect lung cancer, i wouldn't necessarily rely solely on a normal chest xray.

X ray : Ct scan will most likely pick up cancer. 
Chest x ray may  show a large tumor.

will a benign fatty tumor compounded by scoliosis near left rib cage show up on a chest ct scan? feels like when i turn it wants to lock up on me.

Accepted Answer

Possibly : Ct scan could potentially show a lipoma, but it does not show soft tissues in the spine real well.  A better test that readily demonstrates soft tissue structures is an MRI.

Yes: X-rays can show abnormal rib anatomy

i get a sort of spots or rash that goes in a circle on my rib cage it shows up sometimes..i really worried to what it is?

Accepted Answer

: It could be fungal infection, may use otc anti fungal oint/cream. If no improvement, needs in person visit with provider.
