Nerve irritability: It appears that the rib cage nerves or muscles are irritable or slightly inflamed. This dysesthesia is best evaluated by a neurologist for diagnosis, causes and treatment.

Hard to tell: It is difficult to be specific diagnostically when the symptoms are so vague. This could be many different things including musical skeletal, splenic, GI or skin (Shingles). Need more history and perhaps examination to tell but probably not cardiac. Different causes: Tenderness in the upper abdomen may be due to gall bladder problems, gastritis, peptic ulcer. Pancreatitis or gas entrapment. Your physician who knows your symptoms and test results is the best one to diagnose and advise you.

Gall bladder?: Pain under the right ribs is usually gall bladder or liver.  Does eating seem to worsen the pain at all?  Certain types of foods make it worse?  Any reason to suspect enlarged liver such as obesity or heavy alcohol use?  I would see your doctor for a check on this

Pain Right rib area: From what you are describing it could be a musculoskeletal pain in the rib area brought on by some trauma. If less likely gall bladder related issue and the other possibility is nerve pain radiating secondary to a disc related problem in the back. you can do some heat packs and if the pain persists or gets worse or new symptoms develop then seek medical attention.

May be old Fx callus: Fractures can heal with a slight prominence. Since ribs are just below the skin, this prominence or bony overgrowth is often palpable. If there is no history of trauma, the bony mass should be evaluated by your physician.

Hello. : Hello. I will try to be as helpful as i can but i canâ€™t diagnose your symptoms.  We can go through possible symptoms of problems with the gallbladder or pancreas. 
     Cholecystitis begins as intermittent pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen. Overtime the pain worsens and becomes constant. The pain can also be referred to the shoulder blade in the back. It usually increases after eating fatty or greasy foods. Other symptoms can include a mild fever, tenderness or enlargement of the gallbladder, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting.
 Gall stones may cause no symptoms in some people. It can cause cramping pain in the right upper abdominal quadrant and in the upper abdominal midline if a large gallstone obstructs the common bile duct or the cystic duct.  This pain can become constant and can also be referred to just below the shoulder blade. This can be accompanied by a fever, nausea, vomiting, light or clay colored feces, and yellow color of the eyes or skin.
     There are many different types of diseases of the liver. These can include: hepatitis, too much iron or too much copper deposited in the liver, fatty liver disease and viruses just to skim the surface.
     Acute pancreatitis can cause upper abdominal pain that radiates to the back and worsens after eating fatty foods. It can be associated with nausea, vomiting, fever and abdominal tenderness and swelling.  Chronic pancreatitis has similar symptoms and can be accompanied by weight loss and extremely severe pain.
  I have only touched the tip of the ice berg.  Gastroenterologists are experts in this area and the best place to fine tune this type of diagnosis.
