See below: Rhomboid muscle strains are treated conservatively (non-surgically). You will have to avoid any activity that makes the condition worse, which may involve temporarily changing your sport to one that does not involve using the strained muscles.
 The application of ice to the affected area will help to reduce inflammation and pain. Ice can be crushed in a bag, covered with a towel, and placed under the back when you lie down. You can apply ice every few hours for the first two or three days after the injury, and keep the ice in position for as long as is comfortable.
 After a couple of days of treating the area with ice, hot showers can often be an effective treatment for pain associated with rhomboid muscle strain.
 You can take over-the-counter NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) according to instructions, or your doctor may prescribe stronger medication if necessary. Examples of NSAIDs are ibuprofen (Advil), naproxen (Aleve) and aspirin. 
 Massage can provide relief, and can be done at home quite easily by placing a tennis ball on the floor, lying down and rolling the ball under the rhomboid muscles. 
 Physical therapy in the form of exercises will be recommended. You will be advised when it is safe to start performing the exercises. Go carefully and do not continue to exercise if you are finding it painful.
 When you are able to move your arms and shoulders without pain, you can resume your normal activities. Recovery times depend on the individual, but the sooner you start treatment after the injury, the shorter the recovery time will be

please let me know if there is any surgical treatment for spasticity due to cervical myelopathy ?

There are surgical: Options, such as tendon transfers. There are physicians at tgh that i know can do this. However, this will not correct the myelopathy, it will only ease the pain from the spasticity. It may not improve function as well. Have you tried Botox injections? They are very useful with spasticity of you have not tried yet.

Yes: Both drug and non-drug approaches can be very helpful.  Physical therapy can direct you in helpful stretching exercises. Medications such as tizanidine, baclofen, clonazepam, diazepam have all been used to address the mechanisms of spasticity.

i had a spasm in my rhomboid three weeks ago.  the spasm has stopped, but now i have numbness in my index finger. is this normal or something else?

I don't think: the two condition are related.  Consult your doctor to see if your new symptom is a sign of something else.

Muscle spasm: Pain like this certainly can be due to spasm in your rhomboid/upper back area. If you have already tried an anti-inflammatory and applied ice/heat to the area without much relief, however, it's advisable you see a doctor to have this evaluated further. Sometimes pain from organs in your upper abdomen can refer to your shoulder blade - such as due to a stomach or pancreas issue.

I would suspect that: whatever was contributing to the rhomboid muscle spasm may also be contributing to some pleuritic chest pain, neck and back pain.  Rhomboid spasm is often caused by overuse of your shoulder/arm from overhead activities. These same activities may have caused some intercostal muscle strain as well as neck and back pain. Ask your provider to help sort this out especially excluding any cardiac causes.

: The rhomboid area is in the upper back and can be injured or strained by poor posture,throwing,pulling,pushups,weight lifting,and repetitive motions.

Muscle spasm: I often see spasms in one rhomboid. Stretching, massage, nsaids, ice or heat can all help. Stretching has the best chance of helping. The shoulders and cervical spine all need stretching and relaxing. He can use his own hand for massage. Getting frequent short massages from a family member is ideal (like 3 minutes twice a day). Deep relaxation breathing release shoulder and neck tightness.

Crawling: I would consider the possibility of some type of irritation to your spine causing either pinching or inflammation of a nerve to that area. This would be cervical or thoracic.
