Hand Exercises: The best hand exercises are to improve and maintain range of motion.  Getting a soft rubber ball and squeezing it helps with establishing motion and strengthening.  Also getting small objects, such as marbles and picking them up individually works more with fine motor control.

If you already: If you already have joint damage, you will need to go on Methotrexate and probably a biologic if you are candidate for it.

The combination of two can halt progression of the disease.  Sometimes bone erosions can heal, but if you have extensive joint damage the medications will not be able to reverse all that.

Activity and range of motion to one's tolerance is always encouraged in arthritis.

Trigger finger(s): Trigger fingers and osteoarthritis commonly present with morning stiffness.  Unlike arthritis, trigger fingers become stuck in flexion and may snap with movement.  Triggering is due to inflammation of the tendon and tendon sheath.  Oral/injectable steroids may resolve symptoms and therapy can be helpful. Sometimes surgical release of the tendon sheath is needed. See an orthopaedic hand specialist.

i am planning to take rituximab for rheumatoid arthritis but my red blood cell count is very low. does rituximab helps to increase blood count also ?

See below: First, find out what causes your anemia. If your anemia is caused by chronic inflammation such as RA, treating the underlying etiology for anemia by Rituximab will eventually lead to an increase red blood cell count. If your anemia is caused autoimmune-medicated hemolysis, Rituximab can also help increase red cell counts. But, Rituximab itself does not have direct effect on red cell production.
