Wrist pain: Rheumatoid arthritis can indeed cause joint pain in the wrist. However, there are many causes of wrist pain: osteoarthritis (degenerative wear-and-tear arthritis), tendinitis, bony abnormalities (keinbock's disease, scaphoid stress fracture), carpal tunnel syndrome, cartilage abnormalities, capsulitis, intersection syndrome, dequervain's tenosynovitis, and still many others.  Your doctor can help.

rheumatoid arthritis nodules on wrist is that possible? how would i know if it's a nodule or something else?

Yes: An exam by doctor/rheumatologist can confirm. Mri will differentiate between a ganglion (common by the wrist) and a solid mass like a rheumatoid nodule.

Definitive test is an excisional biopsy.

being treated for rheumatoid arthritis my elbows will ache sometime. it feels like the pain travels to my wrist at the same time. is this normal?

Yes.: The radial, ulnar ; median nerves r in close proximity to the elbow,  ; the inflammatory process can irritation can effect the nerves and give u referred pain down the arm ; into the hand ; wrist.

Highly Unlikely: If your joint is actually swollen it may be athritis but rheumatoid would be unlikely. If the bump is nit a joint, then it definitely not ra.

my wife has extreme pain in her shoulder and wrist on opposite sides bad enough to make her cry  re doc thought it might be rheumatoid arthritis?

Rheumatism?: Polyarthralgia it is called and can be due to systemic arthritis like RA.  But, need know lab tests, age, occupation, history of injury, bone density, symptoms, tenderness to pressure, numbness, weakness, duration and response to OTC meds and much more.  Take some Aleve (naproxen) and get tested if it persists.

does carpal tunnel syndrome caused by rheumatoid arthritis present differently than primary cts? e.g. slower atrophy due to rr wrist inflammation?

Very similar: Tbe symptoms of CTS, irrespective of its etiology, are similar and are primarily due to narrowing of the joint spaces in the wrist area from where nerves travel to cause pain.

23 male. keep waking up with sore, visibly red and inflamed middle pinky joint. hurts pretty badly, eventually lessens during the day.  definitely its worst when i wake up. scared its onset rheumatoid arthritis.. what are the other possibilities?

Other arthritis: There are other types of arthritis, including run-of-the-mill osteoarthritis (OA, generic "arthritis"), infections  (viral, Lyme disease, TB, Neisseria - latter 3 can be treated), paraneoplastic arthritis (related to cancer), lupus or other autoimmune conditions, &amp; arthritis related to gout, crystal disease, or other systemic disease (IBD). RA runs in families. Recommend seeing your doctor soon.

hi i have terrible pain in my thumb and joint that goes into my wrist. i do have rheumatoid arthritis and take arcoxia but it is not helping with this pain. do you think i need to see a physio to see what the problem is? thanks

Osteoarthritis ?: I don’t know your age but that joint is the most common one in the body for osteoarthritis, some physio providers can be extremely helpful in that condition. It is reasonable to consult one &amp; try therapy but you should see Dr &amp; get X-ray if not improving.  Topical anti inflammatory cream (trolamine or other salicylate) can also help

i have graves disease. i now have pain, swelling & heat in my ankles & knees. numbness in my hands. is this rheumatoid arthritis?

Not necessarily: You could have autoimmune thyroid disease causing your graves. This is called Hashimoto's disease.

The joint complaints from could be part of an inflammatory type of process, in the family of rheumatoid arthritis but also with other immune possibilities. You need to have your physician have you see a rheumatologist so we can clarify for sure what your diagnosis is
