One good thing: about laparoscopic  GB removal , besides less pain rely ambulation and return to work. Traditional  surgery with large scar takes  takes 6 wks to go back to regular work but you can in half the time or even less if you feel like going back to work

Probably yes: Almost all of the gas in the abdomen disappears within 24 hours of the surgery. If your abdomen remains tight and distended (enlarged) I might wait a few days until it resumes a more normal size. A week out from surgery there will not be a problem. Only concern is that you might be flying somewhere remote where there isn't adequate medical care if a problem develops.

Which do you mean?: It would be very unlikely for a laparoscopic skin wound to re-open 3-4 weeks after surgery. It would uncommon but possible for the fascia to come open late after surgery resulting in a small hernia formation.

No: Many smaller procedures can be done without intubation. Simple procedures may not even require general anesthesia. It depends on the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, the procedure, the patient, the support staff, and the facility. Lots of factors... and almost none that a patient has to worry about. The professionals will figure it out, but if a patient has a strong preference, she can tell her Dr.

: No, the term adhesion means the peritoneum (membrane layers in the abdominal cavity are stuck together - adhere) not the bowel is stuck to your umbilicus (belly button). Your pain could be a nerve pain after a previous surgery (a superficial nerve was damaged with the cut) or with the navel problem by itself, we can only say for sure after a physical exam.

Referred pain.: Talk to the surgeon who performed the surgery with your questions, or use HealthTap prime as the question's complex. Often shoulder blade pain is referred pain from the diaphragm. There could be a complication of surgery, or the original condition (afffecting gallbladder) could have come back. (Gallstones can occur in the ducts left over, or in the pancreas). : You should call your surgeon, or whoever is covering, right away. Did any liquid come out of the incision? If so, what did it look like? Is the incision red? Your surgeon should evaluate you to find out what the etiology of your symptoms is. You can call the doctor’s office and ask to speak with whoever is on call. Good luck to you!

: Usually it takes months or years for intestinal adhesions to cause symptoms after laporoscopic cholecystectomy.. Your operating abdominal surgeon should evaluate and advise you about your pain around the navel.

: Although outside my neurology specialty, have had many of my patients undergo laparoscopic approach, and agree it is far safer with less morbidity than open procedure.  If you tend to scar, you may have some cosmetic issues, but cannot understand how this procedure would cause any "nerve damage", usually.
