how long does it take retin-a micro to clear acne scars?

See below: Retin-a mirco does not treat acne scarring. It can help prevent new acne scars by preventing  serious breakout as part of an acne treatment regimen. Some patients (especially those with darker skin tones) can develop dark spots from acne lesions. These are not actually scars and Retin-A can help improve them over the course of many months.

Accepted Answer

No: As you have experienced, retin a (tretinoin) van provide many benefits. Unfortunately scar eradication is not one of those benefits. Laser treatments or excision and grafting (depending upon the issue) might be helpful.

i am starting accutane for hormonal cystic acne. can i use retin-a micro gel also? is retin a helpful in preventing scarring?

Accepted Answer

No: Accutane should not be combined with Retin A unless directed by your dermatologist.  Accutane will dry your skin and Retin A will exacerbate that.

Accepted Answer

No: Neither will touch actual depressed scars, not can anything else. At best, you can hide your hyperpigmented lesions and even this is likely not to be very successful. Get your active disease under control, and if you wish, get seen by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon who can deal with the scars using a filler, laser or microsurgery.

Various: Peels can work over time. Fractional co2 ablation can do wonders  to get rid of this scars. Microdermabrasion can help in less severe cases. Very severe cases require surgery oftentimes

Probably not: Ahas are not generally intended for this purpose and may increase redness. In fact salicylic acid peels may be better to decrease inflammation.

See below: Generally, yes, assuming you're not pregnant and take proper precautions regarding sunlight exposure.  In addition, it's always important to read the package insert.

Regular: regular retin a, not micro, may be less expensive. check with your pharmacist .

Acne: Yes, one is typicaly recomended to use in the morning and the other at night, both should be used in small amounts after washing your face.

Acne scars: Depends on what they look like, how deep they are and how big an area you are talking about. Subtle treatments include microdermabrasion and chemical peels. More aggressive treatments can be done with Erbium or fractionated CO2 lasers. Sometimes, ice pick, deep scars can benefit from cutaneous fillers like Radiesse or  Juvederm . See an ENT facial plastic surgeon or general plastic surgeon.
