Rheumatic heart: Rheumatic heart disease occurs as a delayed complication in some cases of strep throat. Typically it involves heart valve scarring and damage; arrhythmias are also possible. 7yo daughter has eos 3700, igg 580, cd20 (pan b) 932. she was tested because she is having recurrent strep. does these results point to cancer?

Unlikely but: She does have elevated eosinophil count which needs  be repeated. If the elevation is persistent, you need to bring her to an allergist or hematologist  for an evaluation. Although hypereosinophilia can be from a form of "cancer" , I think the likelihood is quite low. By the way , these are not tests intended for recurrent strep infection. Need to check close contacts including your pets.

Prob infection: In an otherwise healthy young person, such symptoms are usually due to infection (strep or otherwise).  Since lymphoma can also present like this, it's best to have it checked by a doctor.

ive had 2 swollen nodes since 2015. i began working at a daycare back then and had over 12 recurrent strep throat ever since. i thought the lymph nodes were due to so many strep throats but i havent had any st since 2/17 and are still there.

Swollen nodes : In some patients the lymph nodes may remain enlarged due to inflammation but no infection. If they remain swollen, I recommend seeing a rheumatologist. I would be happy to do a consult if needed.

Antibiotics: Antibiotic tx is essential if you have strep to prevent complications.  Complications can include infection of middle ear, sinuses, tonsils, skin & blood; scarlet fever, inflammation of the kidney (glomerulonephritis) & eventually rheumatic fever.

Late onset Strep: In terms of INFANTS, late onset Group B Strep is an infection that infants develop from one week to 3 months after birth, presumably from being birthed from a Group B Strep untreated mother.  This infection causes serious blood and spinal fluid infections.   In older children and adults, you may be referring to being  Group A Strep carrier, in which chronic subclinical infection is present.

Endemic: Group b strep (gbs) is present in or on the body of almost everyone.  For pregnancy care we obtain a culture of the vagina, perineum, and anus at about 35 to 37 weeks to determine if gbs is present - which it is about 1/3 of the time.  The gbs is present in the bowel in most people and it can travel to the vaginal and even sometimes cause bladder infections when it gets into the bladder.
