You can't: There's not much you can do to avoid colds unless you want to live in a cave or on a mountain top, away from all other people.  Getting a cold twice a year is just part of being human.

im finally getting over strep & don't want to relapse. could the cold weather aggravate symptoms more than anything else? should i stay clear of soy?

Can get rechecked: One can get his throat rechecked if a lot of strep throat symptoms return. Cold weather can make a throat uncomfortable temporarily, due to breathing cold, dry air... but does not cause strep throat to relapse. Soy products are everywhere, and have no unusual effect on a normal person's throat.

Sure possible: all depends on which virus you have had a misfortune to be infected with; if its variety is same as that of the rest of your surrounding "sickies" - no chance u will get sick; if a different variety present- u may get sick again. Best thing is protect yourself with good hand hygiene and wearing a mask when feasible.

Herpes zoster: Yes, relapse may occur due to a wide variety of factors, and in some people never recurs at all.  Stress of any form has been associated with reactivation, but again, some people never have it happen twice.

Maybe: Unfortunately the "cold" is caused by many different viruses so the one causing your friend's symptoms may be different from yours and so you can still catch their illness.

dr, i get sick once a month(cold, soreness or fatigue)my baby 18months baby wakes me up at least 4 times the night for breastfeeding since she was born. i don't suffer from any disease but i'm worried about these relapses. what can i do to avoid them?

: Start by training baby to be a day feeder. Do not breast feed baby closer than 1/2 hour before they go down. 18 mo baby can sleep through the night if they are not using the breast to re-sleep. For a while, use a water filled bottle if baby wakes in the night, zero calories in the feed will shift them to better day feeds. Fix the feeds &amp; the rest should resolve.

i smoked cigarettes for 20 years quit smoking cold turkey. been three months and relapsed last week for two days due to low moods and anxiety. i don't have history of depression. now even more anxious and sleep disturbance. will this end ?

: It's often difficult to determine whether symptoms are caused by withdrawal or by underlying depression and/or chronic anxiety. I recommend consulting a mental health professional to help you sort this out and treat you if indicated after the assessment.

Rest and fluids: The more rest and fluids you can get will help you get over this more quickly.  Try some nasal saline spray as well to help relieve some of your symptoms.
