my left eye has been hurting and red for about 3 days now and i have put reg eye drops but not helping iam on medication for my heart does this means i could be have another heart attack or stroke

Hello, : Hello, there are a number of possible reasons that you left eye could be red & painful. Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the surface of the eyeball and is commonly known as "pink eye." it might just be from irritation to the eye or allergies.  If it is caused by a virus or bacteria, it could be quite contagious. Your eyes could be bloodshot because they are irritated by a variety  of things like wind, dry air, cold exposure, dust, etc.  The fact that your eye is red and painful by itself, does not mean that you are having a stroke or a heart attack.  What would be of particular concern would be eye pain with a change to your vision. If that occurs i would recommend being seen right away. Because you have a complicated medical history, if this does not resolve fairly quickly i would notify your doctor.

No: Red eye drops often irritate the eyes more. Also, the eyes become more red when the effect of the drop wears off. I don't recommend using "red eye" drops at any time.

Red eyes: Some people have very superficial conjunctival  blood vessels naturally.  These can be temporarily constricted with vasoconstrictor eye drops but the effect is short term followed by an exacerbation of vaso-dilation. Surgical techniques with stem cell implantation  is being tried, which is still experimental.  Most causes of red eyes are associated with irritants. Common cause is dry eyes.

Conjunctivitis: Try systane preservative free  in single vials. Do not put in your contact again till it is all clear.  If does not clear up in 24 hours or have blurred vision pain go to urgent  care optometrist ( at lenscrafters, houreyes) and get checked may need antibiotics.

What is causing red?: What is the source of the redness?  You may need antibiotic, steroids, glaucoma drops, or lubricant.  See an ophthalmologist.

Artificial tears: Artificial tears are your best choice for redness.  If this does not work, then you need to see an ophthalmologist to determine why you have redness.

Depends on the drop: I would caution against using "get the red out" eyedrops. Those will often work initially by constricting the blood vessels but not treating the primary problem.  They become less effective and more addictive as time goes on. There is nothing wrong with regular artificial tears as a treatment. She may need to continue those or consider an alternative like Restasis or punctal plugs.

Yes for 1-2 days.: Redness drops are fine to use for 1-2 days, after that the drops themselves can cause redness.  They are fine to use with uveitis, however, they will not resolve the uveitis.  Treatment for uveitis usually involves steroid drops and dilation.

i got pink eye on march 3rd but it has reduced in redness with some pentrexyl &eye drops but i woke up today there was crusting around it again ?

See Physician: Pink eye may require antibiotics usually drops. sine pink eye can be transferred eye to eye and is contagious, I recommend you seek medical attention. Less likely, there are other eye diseases that can look like pink eye and again can be diagnosed by an eye doctor. good luck

No: "get the red out" eye drops for occasional use, but not with contacts in.  Instead use rewetting drops designed for use with contact lenses.  They are available in most pharmacies.
