Local irritation: Apply a cold compress to his eyes and rinse his eyes gently with saline.  There may be an allergic reaction. An over the counter pediatric antihistamine may be helpful.
Avoid contact with dust, mold, smoke, animal dander and pollen. Please see your pediatrician if there is worsening or no improvement.

Please see your: doctor or an eye doctor. Although usually scratches of the cornea or infections of the eye are painful, it is not worth taking a chance with your eyes/vision.

Could be old mascara: nail polish contact irritation. try OTC hydrocortisone and see derm or ophthalmologist if not clear

Could be stye: This is likely a hordeolum.  You can try hot compresses to bring the swelling down.  However, it could also indicate a possibly mosre serious infection like cellulitis which would need oral antibiotics to treat.  See an eye md.

Dry eye: Could be dry eye but difficult to say. You can try some lubricating drops (tears) available over the counter to see if they help but if there is no improvement then you should see your eye doctor.

Infection?: viral or bacterial? hard to say without a picture or more information.  Try some warm compresses. If still bothering you see your doctor.

Amphadase : Amphadase (hyaluronidase inj) is a preparation of purified bovine testicular hyaluronidase, a protein enzyme. Each vial contains 150 USP units of hyaluronidase per ml with 8.5 mg sodium chloride, 1 mg Edetate disodium, 0.4 mg calcium chloride, monobasic sodium phosphate buffer, and not more than 0.1 mg thimerosal (mercury derivative). It is possible to have an allergic reaction to any or all of these ingredients. If you have had a reaction in the past or suspect that you may be allergic to the contents then you should identify these concerns to your practitioner. Barring allergic reactions there is usually a small amount of redness at the site of injection and this usually goes away in 1-3 hours.
