i have a red spot in my lower eyelid. now i  see a little white stringy fluid around it. should i be worried? should i just let it pass?

Stye or a Chalazion : More often than not the red spot is a stye or a chalazion!  they can burst and have yellow stringy stuff come out and it may be infected.  My suggestion is start warm compresses to the lids 10 minutes at a time, twice daily and see your ophthalmologist soon.

: Lower eyelid lesions can be caused by numerous things. Most commonly benign are stye, cholesterol deposit (xanthelasma), molluscum (caused by poxvirus), keratotes, papilloma, moles, and milia. There are other rare benign and malignant lesions. An exam with your primary care or optometrist can help distinguish the cause.

Have it checked: While many pigment spots on the eyelid or inner conjunctiva tissue can be benign or safe, some, just like changes anywhere on the skin,  can be serious and need treatment. Best to have it examined by an eye MD &amp; get some photos so the area can be compared over time if that&#x27;s necessary too. Also, protect the eyes from ultraviolet damage &amp; risks by using quality UV protection sunglasses.

Plugged Duct: If the black spot is located in the corner of your eye near your nose it could be a blocked lacrimal duct. Put warm compress (not hot) over eye and see if it improves while you wait for your ophthalmologist appt.

Inclusion cyst: What u describe ads being painless fits a skin inclusion cyst.  It can be easily needled out by your ophthalmologist.  It could also be an inflamed meibomian gland but that it has a little pain and is yellowish.

Several types of inflammatory conditions of the skin, allergic reactions, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause rashes on the skin. Insect bites can also be the cause of a rash on the skin.  Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.

Unclear: It is unclear but may be a small gland infection. I would wait and see as this does not appear to be serious as yet from what you have said.  I would not wear makeup until this has settled down as this can sometimes aggravate eye problems.

The Eyes Have It: A common side for those who drive with the window down. Maybe a small foreign body (if it won't wash out, see a doctor), or the start of a stye ('hordeolum'), which is a small infection of the eyelid that can eventually get pretty big. Get in the shower and rinse the eye good. If that helps, wait and see if an infection develops (red, swollen), if not, read the first sentence again.
