why would a physician advise not to do any light exercises 3 wks after an abdominal myomectomy even though i feel fine and have no pain or soreness??

Wound healing: Even with "superglue" for wound closures, there are several layers under the skin that have been surgically repaired that the body needs time to heal. The most important layer is the fascia, which if it "comes apart" prematurely will mean the entire wound itself will do likewise. Exercises put a stress on the wound closure as the muscles tend to try to "pull apart" any wound closure, so heed MD.

Myomectomy, UAE ...: Your options depend on how big and where your fibroids are.  You may not need to do anything.  Many fibroids do not interfere with conception or pregnancy, but some do.  Talk to your doctor.  You may be a candidate for a robotic myomectomy or a hysteroscopic myomectomy, either of which might be an easier recovery than the surgery you had in 2003.

Get off narcotics!: They are not indicated in fibromyalgia. At your age, the diagnosis is suspect. I suspect you have not seen a rheumatologist!

No: I would highly recommend removing them laparoscopically (minimally invasive approach).  Although this method is more difficult to perform, for the patients, there will be great benefit (cosmetically small pleasing scars, 2 week recovery, less pain, quicker return to work).  Please do your homework and find a skilled laparoscopic surgeon.  The differences are night and day!

Not normal: You should not have a knot that size after surgery so get checked by your surgeon.

Myomectomy ?'s: Pain from a myomectomy may last for 4-6 weeks, as uterine contractions will invoke pain secondary to inflammation resulting from even hysteroscopic surgical removal of fibroids.  Ask your gyn for an exam and evaluation of the pelvic pain, to rule out infection/inflammation.

Yes: A myomectomy causes scarring and contraction of the uterus that can lead to abnormal bleeding for up to 12 weeks after surgery, especially if some of the fibroids were into the cavity of the uterus. If heavy, see your doctor.

Myomectomy: Myomectomy involves an incision in the uterus, which needs to completely heal prior to the attempt at pregnancy, and this should be part of a discussion with your gyn surgeon who performed the myomectomy.
