for what length of time can i expect a cough to last after recovering from pneumonia?

Could be a while: Unfortunately a cough that results from significant lung infection like pneumonia can last from a couple of weeks to even several months.   The other symptoms like fever and mucus production should resolve much more quickly with treatment however.

pain on right side of back in the mid area, specifically when coughing , after recovering from pneumonia a month prior to pain getting worse?

Pleurisy: Probable residual of the pneumonia.  After having pneumonia and waiting for a few weeks should always have a follow- up chest x-ray to make sure there is full resolution of the shadows on the x- ray and to make sure there are no obstructing tumor masses.  Also to look for an effusion of fluid into the chest cavity, which could cause your symptoms.

hi, i am slowly recovering from pneumonia, but am an avid triathlete. what are the guiding principles as to when i may resume exercise?  thanks!

Two to four weeks: If you are fully recovered, then a couple of weeks at least to make sure is advisable. Start slowly and if all is well, you can resume normal training after four weeks.

Possible: Check for complication like parapneumonic effusion, so hard to say pt recovered.

Yes: I suggest a repeat exam and possibly  a chest x-ray and pulmonary function testing.

Recovering: you have become deconditioned  and you are recovering. You need to initiate an exercise program. Check with your physician to make sure there are no other health issues

recovering from pneumonia, finished zpak last monday. pneumonia was cultured but no organisms found so they dont know what caused it. coughing majority blood in phlegm only in morning, regular clear phlegm rest of day. should i be concerned?

Work up, see PCP: TB and other bacterial causes including Strep pneumococcus should be excluded. Your symptoms are concerning, and please have additional screening to include SARS Cov-2 and influenza completed after seeing your PCP.  A chest image and possible bronchoscopy may be indicated. Please seek medical care and a referral to Pulmonology.

Shortness of breath: The compromise of breathing is a medical emergency, a visit to your PCP or nneRt emergency depot is warranted

i had a really bad pneumonia that i am still recovering from. dr. said it seems to be improving from the xray, sometimes i fell fatigues and still coughing up clear mucus, weak, etc. dr mentioned something about fatigue syndrome?

Pneumonia:  I don't know about fatigue syndrome. But if you have had a bad insult to your lungs (pneumonia) you may continue to have sequela for a while - which could include respiratory symptoms and significant fatigue.
