Sounds like you need: You need to have your thyroid levels checked as you could be undertreated. Furthermore, ensure that timing of your thyroxine ingestion is at least 30min apart from any food or other medication. Caffeinated drinks, soymilk and calcium containing food are all know to interfere with thyroid absorption.

Med effect: Many medications can stimulate appetite and induce cravings.  Drug interactions are hard to predict and can throw off normal body function.  Chronic pain is difficult to treat and often made worse with too many medications.

Common reasons include: high intake of processed starch and sugar, lack of lean protein, vegetables and fiber in your diet, lack of adequate exercise. If none of those pertains to you, then low thyroid function, adrenal dysfunction, stomach problems, diabetes are some of the reasons behind weight gain. I suggest seeing doctor for thorough evaluation.

Some medications: Do promote weight gain.  You need to discuss the specifics of this with your doc.  Please follow his/her advice and don't change your med or dose w/out consulting doc.  Food plan and exercise and lifestyle are important factors also.  Peace and good health.

Losing Weight: Weight loss is not easy.  I have found that the best way is a combination of cardiovascular exercise such as running or walking fast and dieting.  You need to cut out the carbs. They are killers for weight.  I found the South Beach Diet which cuts out carbs and eating more protein to be one of the best diets.  Fruit with berries in the name are good.  Tropical fruit is bad, too many carbs.

is it possible to gain 2-3 pounds overnight and then drop back to normal again?  im trying to lose weight and for some reason this happens some days?

Water weight.: This can happen quite easily with water weight gain, such as after a salty meal. We can seemingly gain up to five pounds overnight due to water weight - this weight tends to go away very quickly. We cannot gain that much actual body weight, or lose it for that matter, that quickly.
