Athletes foot: You may have athletes foot extending from your toes to the top of your feet  and ankles. Check with a dermatologist for a definitive diagnosis.

Could be dermatitis: If it is long standing it could be eczematous eruption or a fungal infection, if there is a skin rash. Needs to be evaluated by dermatologist.

Rash: If it is petechiae your doctor would have told you it petechiae.  If it spreads then it is a concern and  needs to be worked out

Cortaid (hydrocortisone) cream: Since i don't know the cause , you can try a combination of Cortaid (hydrocortisone) and lotrimin cream otc. If no improvement in 10 days see a dermatologist.

That's a long time: Not to have a diagnosis. General rule of thumb is that if you try a treatment and it doesn't work, you can try another or you might of had the wrong diagnosis. With a rash, a simple biopsy of the tissue will help arrive at the correct diagnosis.

have a redness/rash on my ankle.  prescribed ointment, has made it a little better and some days it almost vanishes.....follow up with my doc is 2 weeks from now (have used ointment for almost a month) due to his busy sched. ?

Ointment name: Unsure of the ointment you are using or what the Dr. said you had but some rashes take awhile to respond so this may need it but very hard to diagnose or say without seeing the rash either.  I would continue until you see him but be sure and be faithful in the use of the medicine prescribed.  Sometimes if you take T-Gel (coal tar) shampoo and suds in , leave stand x 15 then rinse helps to resolve.

i rode roller coasters. i came home with a blotchy rash on my ankles and feet. i was wearing flip flops. what could it be & how do i fix it?

Dermatitis: It sounds like your feet came into contact with something that caused an allergic reaction. Gentle washing then applying Hydrocortisone cream for a few days should clear the rash. If not, get it checked. Also, wearing flipflops to an amusement park just isn't smart. They offer no support or protection from injury. Next time, wear sneakers.

Because: There is poor oxygen and nutrion in the blood supplying the tissue....The vessels are also usualy inflammed and damage has occured to the vessel walls..All this sets up an undesirable situation which is often painful.
