2 separate problems: Your biopsy shows that the renal (kidney) tissue, that which makes urine, is itself abnormal. The kidney stone is probably unrelated to the renal disease but could cause problems in the future if it moves and blocks the kidney. Be sure to tell your doctor about this if you develop pain in the future.

: GFR is a calculated rate, highly dependent on few variables, among which muscular mass and hydration level at the time blood is drawn are among the most important. There is limited use of trending GFR unless there are existing conditions, such as hypertension or diabetes known to affect kidney function in time.

BUN/Creatinine: Serum should be tested for blood urea nitrogen and creatinine to assess for the presence of kidney dysfunction.  A complex formula is used to estimate kidney function or estimated glomerular filtration rate.  This formula utilizes serum creatinine, age, sex, and race.  Sometimes we utilize another serum study called cystatin c which may give us more information.  Urinalysis is also needed.
