i fell into my deck, hitting my knee. i have swelling in my knee and calf with limited range of motion. what do i do?

Knee Contusion: If you can bare weight on it and the joint feels stable when you walk it is probably just soft tissue swelling.  If you fell directly on the knee cap it can be broken.  If it is getting worse over time, you can;t walk on it or it feels unstable you should get it evaluated right away.

sprained knee? twisted while walking dog. bit of swelling. pain is 7-8/10. range of motion is limited. now calf hurts, muscle is tight can't stretch.

Accepted Answer

Could be: ligament tear or meniscus tear of knee.  Calf pain could be DVT, which could lead to fatal pulmonary embolism.  It is best to see a doctor asap for these problems.

pubic bone shifted to the left after fall. could this cause my left leg to lose range of motion & make my leg pop after standing form sitted position?

Snapping hip: Snapping hip can be due to tendons in front, or along the side of the hip.  Without an ortho evaluation it is difficult to tell.  Typically painless snapping is not a problem and stretching the muscles around the hip can help with most snapping.

sharp pain in right side crease area where thigh meets groin. loss of full range of motion-can't move leg up to put socks on. pain for months now.

Groin pain: The commonest cause of lingering groin discomfort is strain or injury of the inguinal ligament which takes many months to heal. Do you recall any strain of the groin area in the past? Occasionally pain in the groin is referred from a hip joint problem. I recommend an examination by a general surgeon to check for hernia or evidence of ligament or hip pathology.

if a pinch nerve is n hip or back could it cause me to lose range of motion n one leg & also cause pain n groins going up stairs? chiro seems to help.

Pinched nerve: Yes a pinched nerve can do this. If chiro helps then great.

what would cause a loss of range of motion in a hip? i am unable to abduct left hip. upper leg muscles feel weak, leg feels "stuck" when i abduct.

Any groin pain?: Any pain or limping with weight bearing/walking?  Morning stiffness?  If so consider hip joint problem.  Consider labrum too.  If groin muscles are sore perhaps a muscle strain.   Bursitis of the lateral hip or gluteus medius/minimus muscle problem perhaps but you would have soreness of the lateral hip.  Nerve issue can also cause weakness - look for numbness or tingling in other parts of the leg.

Calf pain: There are a few possibilities, but this can
 be caused by a clot; are you on any birth control pills? Since the pain is in the calf, I would see your primary physician ASAP. Another possibility is that it is a nerve injury. Nonetheless, see your primary physician.

my back is out, it pinches in the lower back and shoots down my sciatic nerve in my right buttock and down my leg. my leg is numb, back muscles seized up, severe pain constantly for 2 weeks and extremely limited range of motion. i cant sleep. ?

Surgery?: This needs specialty care ASAP. You can expect a program of rest and/or exercises and/or physical therapy; or perhaps prompt surgery. Ask your doctor about referral to an orthopedist who specializes in spine disease or a neurosurgeon. If you're having fever, you need care immediately:  some cases like this are due to spinal infection that needs emergency surgery and IV antibiotics. Good luck.

i fell onto my right knee and kneecap is numb. calf and foot are not numb. knee is very bruised but still has full range of motion. treatment advice?

Tincture of time: It generally takes 2-3 wks for bruising to resolve.  The numbness is likely due to the swelling and will probably improve  as the swelling goes down.  The bruising will probably extend down the leg before it completely resolves.
