Could be many things: Could be many things: 
Maybe your shoes are too tight, maybe you have arch issues and you need an orthotic insole for your footwear, maybe you’re dehydrated and your potassium or calcium are too low.

DVT/ Muscle Cramps: It could be. Is your leg red, hot and swollen? If that is the case, you may have DVT (deep vain thrombosis) and you need to go the ER as soon as possible. However, if you are not experiencing these symptoms, than it could be just some muscle cramps. Please visit your primary care physician and possibly a podiatrist to further evaluate..

Electrolyte imbalanc: You should have labs drawn for potassium, magnesium and calcium. Muscle enzymes should checked as well. If your symptoms persist, a neurologist should be consulted

Muscle spasm, cramp: Everyone has this happen from time to time.  Ask your mother!  It doesn't usually mean anything.  
Make sure you are not sitting or lying in some strange position cutting off circulation to the part, or wearing very high heels or uncomfortable shoes in general.  When it happens, extend (the opposite of flex, UNbend) the body part, using the floor or a door jamb or a wall to help you. Good luck!

Cramps: Many chemical reasons, such as taking statin drugs, blood vessel problems, muscle disease, but these are all rare. Most of my patients' cramps are not from low potassium , magnesium or phosphorous or hypothyroid, but respond to stretching, extra potassium  (very little) quinine, benadryl, (diphenhydramine) but they can have side effects, .
