: Although many potential side effects for gabapentin are listed, I have seen patients on high dose( up to 2700 mgs per day) for prolonged periods of time without problems. Most of the patients on very high doses were given by neurologists that followed the patients with me. I might add that the pharmacy I use keeps track of the prescriptions&amp;refills. Patients are not to abruptly stop the medication

we just moved from michigan to minnesota and i ran out of my gabapentin i take 600mg 4 times daily for carpel tunnel and i don't have a primary yet.

Go to urgent care: You cn call your physician and see if you can get a temporary supple until you find a new  physician. The risk of stopping it quickly is a problem because it is an anti-seizure medication and if you do not slowly go off there is a risk of seizure. Find a physician for your  long term care. There are  other treatments for carpal tunnel

Sounds like: Sounds like this patient's psychiatrist would like to see the patient again soon, because Prozac (fluoxetine) + off-label use of Gabapentin does not seem to be having its desired effect.  Hopefully this patient is also in psychotherapy as well -- many ways to deal with anxiety can be learned there.

how long one can stay on gabapentin for rls?? i am in my 30s, will taking this medicine affects kidney or brain in long run? i am worried, as i have to take this medicine daily for like rest of my life. i am just skeptical and worried about that?

: If you have pregnancy plans, gabapentin should be stopped about 4 weeks prior to conception.  Otherwise is a medication which can be used for years, with almost no chronic damage outcomes.  However, tolerance could result, and this could be changed to a dopamine agonist.

if u were taking 600 mg of gabapentin & it gets changed to 300 mg can u break the 600mg tabs in half so they aren't wasted?
