Possible/? reinfect: Tolerance to any medication is possible in theory. Treatment with pyrantel pomate is often repeated in 1-2 wks  to assure cure. Reinfection is common if environmental sources are not found & eliminated.

Absolutely OK to do: Remember to repeat the dose in 2 weeks.   This is critical because the medication does not kill pinworm eggs.  Only live / hatched pinworms.   Repeating the dose in two weeks will therefore kill any newly-hatched worms.  IN ADDITION:  you must vacuum and wash all linens , and vacuum carpets.  Cleaning the environment is critical to eliminating the eggs.   Best wishes.

: Albendazole has a higher efficacy in eliminating pinworm infestation than pyrantel pamoate.  It is ideal  to have whole family get treated at the same time to prevent reinfection.

Best to wait.: It reaches peak availablity at about an hour and leaves completely within a few days at the most. 5 half lives times 5 hours max = less than 3 days. Probably best to postpone conception. It is a category C in pregnancy and breastfeeding, which means that it has never been studied in pregnant women and the studies in pregnant mice have shown unusual 1st trimester effects and stillbirth.
