for many months, i have had a small hard white cyst on the lateral punctum area of my upper eyelid. it is not irritated or infected. who should i see?

Blocked gland: This is a blocked skin gland.  The secretion is a clear mixture of oil and water.  If blocked the water is absorbed, leaving a hard lump of white oil.  This can be ignored or it can be removed in a simple office procedure with a sterile needle to open the top and cotton tip applicators to squeeze out the oil lump.

i have a pus in my eyelid and it's swelling, and the pus keeps coming out through my lacrimal punctum (it's from my upper lids) what should i do? and what kind of eye infection is this?

: You should see a doctor for some antibiotic eye drops. This can be conjunctivitis-is your eye also red? A doctor needs to examine your eye and prescribe antibiotic eye drops to treat the infection. If you wear contact lenses, you should take them out and wear glasses until the infection resolves. Best of luck to you!

allergy preservative: Sounds like allergy to preservative in eyedrops as itchiness is in drainage area: sup and inf punctae
stop eye drops and use only oral med antihistaminic.

Itching can be a: symptom of an allergic response or inflammation. The associated swelling of the delicate tissue could contribute to the discomfort as well. A chalazion (stye) would present itself on the lid margin or eyelid itself. You may want to consider an OTC allergy drop and if not better in 24 hours see your Ophthalmologist.

Get second opinion: Allergies cause itching ; tearing. Over-the-counter allergy medicine ; eyedrops help relieve it. Zaditor (ketotifen) is a good eyedrop. Blepharitis also causes itching ; this can occur with allergies. It's a minor infection of the eyelids. Crusting ; tearing is common. Warm compress with daily baby shampoo washing of the eyelids helps relieve this. Severe cases are placed on antibiotics by your doctor.

i have a meibomium cyst on my lower eyelid. dr said it should go in couple of months.  9 months later and i still have it,  what should i do?

Open and drain: if it is bothering you it can be opened and drained or removed in a five minute office procedure.  Otherwise there is no harm in leaving it alone. I assume you have used hot compresses four times daily as well as a mild antibiotic drop at acute onset already. If not, that is still worth a one week trial.

is it possible to remove a very small cyst under my eyelid?

Yes : Yes, it's easy to remove in the office setting, by an ophthalmologist. Make sure he/she does a biopsy to ensure the lesion is benign.

i have a cyst on the inner of my eyelid that is getting bigger. how can i get rid of it at home?

Accepted Answer

Try hot compresses: Maybe you could try some warm moist compresses but you probably will need to see an ophthalmologist to have it surgically removed.
