The only pulsating: Structure in the mid neck is the carotid artery.  If the doctors exam and the u/s were unrevealing then you are probablly ok.

: If there are no other signs or symptoms, the normal echo is reassuring. Watch for signs of shortness of breath or dizziness. Keep your child well hydrated. Please follow up with your Cardiologist.

i am a 27 year old female, 140 lbs with a slim neck and can see my right neck vein pulsing (not my left) anytime i lie down. my echo, carotid ultrasound and ecg were normal. should i run more tests?

: The carotid artery is a large artery &amp; I'm sure that's what you see pulsating. A normal carotid ultrasound is very reassuring. I assume you don't have high blood pressure which could accentuate carotid artery pulsations.  If you still have concerns, consult a vascular surgeon.

Blood flow: Color on your thyroid ultrasound means that color doppler was applied and blood flow was detected.  It is generally normal unless there is too much color, which would have been mentioned in the report.

how well does a thyroid ultrasound tell if you have cancer or not?

Accepted Answer

Pretty good: The thyroid ultrasound does not directly tell you if you have cancer. The ultrasound identifies suspicious areas of the thyroid.  Then, if the areas are suspicious enough, you may undergo a biopsy where a needle is placed into the thyroid area and samples are examined under a microscope to see if you have thyroid cancer or not.
