Cool compress: The fluid under the skin may track and spread. Apply a cool compress to the area and if the baby is in pain, has a fever or discoloration of the leg, please see your Pediatrician right away.
Watch for signs of infection, pus, redness and swelling. Continue to feed the baby as usual, and schedule a visit with your pediatrician for post hospital care.

I can't tell from your question if your soles are also red and swollen or NOT red and swollen. If yes, a rare condition called erythromelalgia might be considered.
