Online Medicare: One of the requirements for Medicare online coverage is that the pt.  Be in a healthcare facility, doctor’s office, nursing home, hospital, or the like for coverage. In : In the state of florida, the marchman act addresses getting help for individuals with serious problems with substance abuse, who are not open to treatment.  This  law can help families through the courts to get loved ones into court ordered and court monitored "intervention assessment stabilization, or detoxification, and long-term treatment".     A family member can petition the court .  
     Under the baker act,  which is specific for psychiatric conditions, even if he has known psychiatric diagnoses, his doctor can only detain him against his will for a brief period unless there is court intervention and he is deemed to be at imminent risk to self or others.   
   I suggest you obtain legal advice. Additionally, do not remain  in the home iwith your spouse if you are afraid that you or your son are in danger.  You can ask the police who intervened for local contact information regarding domestic violence advocacy.  If is important that a safety plan be developed. "knights of kindness" lists a number of florida resources that may be beneficial.

Yes they can: Yes doctors do not have to treat everyone. Sometimes it a business decision. They don't want to accept a low reimbursement rate or an insurance company that is difficult to deal with.

Negative cash flow: Ususally, the cost of doing business, insurance, office, staff, dues etc. make it a money losing proposition. Many clinics do offer psychiatric services however.

Can understand: your frustration. Because you have both bipolar disorder and anxiety - a psychiatrist really is the best level of care.  Not sure what is meant by weird office policies. But, there are many areas where there aren't sufficient number of psychiatrists. If the psychiatrist's office policies don't actually prohibit you from care from them - you may need to be flexible. Ask your dentist: Usually your dentist will refer you  to  the oral surgeon.  If you want to go directly  call your local dental society office to get  the list of local oral surgeons from that you  choose weather they accept medicare or not, most likely they will, if you explain your financial situation.

No pain meds: Pain meds are controlled substances that cannot be prescribed remotely. Due to scrutiny patients have pain agreements with their prescribers they have to abide to and pain meds are prescribed only in up to a month supply at a time. Keep your current prescriber.

Not unusual: Without knowing specifics of the case, it is not unusual for a patient/client requiring a higher level of care, necessitating an inpatient stay, to discontinue outpatient care. That being said, if the outpatient care prior to admission was appropriate, the patient/client would likely return to those services as part of their discharge plan. This is of course, in the context of mental health.

Psychiatric care is very personal and trust is an important component to getting the most from your treatment. Try discussing your concerns with your doctor and if these feelings persist, consider getting a second opinion.

Try looking online: Years ago, listings used to be available only in printed form. By the turn of the century, lists had become available online everywhere. Now, some lists are only online, and no longer printed. County medical societies, hospitals, insurance companies usually list medical doctors by name, specialty, and location. Looking at the Psychiatrist list on the insurer's site should give results.
