after a 60 + male has knee surgery and is discharged from hospital if they are taking codeine phospate 30mg 2 tablets every 6 hrs max of 8 tabs 24hr but accidently takes next dose after only 4 hrs but has no real adverse effects could it be a danger?

Mucinex (guaifenesin): mucinex (guaifenesin) is brand name for glycerol guiacolate Same as Robitussin but in pill form. It is an expectorant and loosens mucus so you can spit it up.  You can also drink a lot of tea and do largely the same thing.  Maybe you took it because you were coughing (appropriate) and because you coughed hard you set off the gag reflex and that's why you vomited badly. It wasn't the mucinex (guaifenesin) but the cough!  Ah h

Yes: Pseudoephedrine can make the symptoms of Methadone withdrawal worse. A person can experience signs of autonomic hyperactivity from opiate withdrawal such as irritability, restlessness, insomnia ; dilated pupils. This can worsen w/ pseudoephedrine.

Probably : Remember Robitussin (guaifenesin) mainly works by irritating the stomach to stimulate secretions. Taking more often than 6 hours my lead to stomach upset, so you might want to wait a little longer than 4 hours.

Mucinex (guaifenesin): is a mucous "thinner', cough medicines usually help suppress cough especially when used with Codeine (which may also have the beneficial effect of causing drowsiness). You can safely mix these only with the guidance of your Family Doctor.

Other symptoms?: How long have your symptoms lasted? Any fevers/chills? Coughing up green or yellow phlegm? Trouble breathing?  If any of the above, or if this has lasted over 10 days without improvement, you could have pneumonia or even influenza, which means you should go see a healthcare provider. Otherwise, rest and drink plenty of fluids.
